Peruvian Frazada Rug in Felicidad

Sale price Price $200.00 Regular price $250.00

This vintage frazada was handmade over 50 years ago in the Andean highlands of Cusco Peru.  Traditional frazadas are woven on a backstrap loom, over the course of 1-3 months. They are made in 2 panels that are then stitched together to form the frazada. All natural, made with sheep's and alpaca wool, they are thick and  made for warmth and durability in order to protect from the chill of the Andes. This frazada is thick, soft and extra cozy.

Each frazada is unique and  reflective of its maker/weaver. The artisan of this frazada tells a story in its pattern: if you look closely, there are two colors making up the union of the diamonds and within the diamonds you can see the flower of the "tree of happiness". It is said that the two colors and the flower indicate that this blanket was made to be given as a gift to a husband when they come together in union.

Measures approximately 68 inches x 55.5 inches

As with all handmade items, there are sometimes "imperfections". These are what make them special, beautiful and real. Truly one of a kind.

    Care Instructions:
